Lignin nanoparticles containing essential oils for controlling <i>Phytophthora cactorum</i> diseases

Phytophthora cactorum is a plant pathogen affecting wide range of hosts, causing economically damaging diseases, such as damping off and root rot, in fields nurseries. Current protection strategies are often inadequate to control diseases. Hence, an attempt was made evaluate the potential novel method using lignin nanoparticles loaded with essential oil Thymus serpyllum (EO-LNPs) for controlling P. infections on Pinus nigra vitro greenhouse conditions. Nanoparticles were characterized by Py-GCMS drug efficiency, loading capacity determined HPLC. T. oils (EOs) gas chromatography (GC-FID GC-MS). Under conditions, median effective concentration (EC50) values 20.453 88.711 ?g/ml, EOs EO-LNPs, respectively. Furthermore, vivo tests revealed that thyme EO-LNPs very reducing mortality inoculated pine seedlings, inhibition rate 93% 100%, Results reported this study open possibility improving health settings. The design new relying conforms principles circular economy.
